Powder coating is becoming an increasingly popular choice for many metal finishing applications. At Landa’s Painting & Finishing we have the ability to to paint one off prototypes and high volume production runs. All parts are cleaned and prepped per customer drawings including bondo and any masking and plugging. Powder coating process
In powder coating, the color is suspended in a solid binder. The binder consists of resin, pigment, and curing agents that are ground down to a fine powder. The dry powder paint is applied to a metallic surface utilizing an electrostatic charge. A negative charge is applied to the parts which attracts the positive charge applied in the powder paint as it leaves the spray gun. Under high heat (400 deg. F) the binder melts in an even coating around the parts. The resulting finish when cured is a durable coating the same thickness as 2-pack wet paint.
Benefits of Powder coating
- Very durable. Powder coated parts are more resistant to:
- Chipping
- Weathering
- Chemicals
- Corrosion
- More uniform finish as there is no running or dripping of the paint.
- More cost effective and environmentally friendly. Powder coating eliminates the need for harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
